For the second year running, Cedric Watson has again received a Grammy Nomination in the Best Cajun or Zydeco Music Record category, this time for his 2009 release "L'Esprit Creole."
One of the most noted young talents to emerge in Cajun or Creole music in the past few years, Cedric Watson is a fiddler, vocalist, accordionist and songwriter of seemingly unlimited potential. Cedric has been making a name for himself reviving old Creole fiddling styles, injecting a healthy dose of his own personality and ingenuity, and bringing them to an ever-broadening audience.
Cedric Watson has played with some of the great family names in Creole music, including Dexter Ardoin and the Creole Ramblers and Jeffrey Broussard and the Creole Cowboys, and most recently was a featured member of the Pine Leaf Boys. He has played across the United States as well as in France, Nova Scotia, Haiti and Spain, and he has a keen interest in connecting Louisiana Creole music to the Creole Nations in other parts of the world.
Moving with ease between fiddle and accordion, and adding his strong blues-inflected vocals, Cedric's creative style and obvious joy in playing make him an engaging and exciting performer.
Cedric Watson can also be booked as part of Eye For Talent's Cajun/Zydeco celebration, Fête de Louisiane!, along with one of Acadiana's hottest young Cajun bands, Feufollet.
